Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Bioinformatics Software Engineer to contribute to a large cross-institute program called Designing Future Wheat (DFW). This is a collaboration between several UK research institutes with the aim to develop improved wheat varieties for future generations.

You will be based at Rothamsted Research and work within the Bioinformatics group and collaborate closely with other partners at Earlham Institute, the European Bioinformatics Institute and University of Bristol. One of the imminent duties will be the development of standardised APIs and web-services for the KnetMiner ( http://knetminer.rothamsted.ac.uk/ ) and Ondex ( http://www.ondex.org/ ) software, developed at Rothamsted. The role will also be responsible for improving the accessibility of phenotype data generated at Rothamsted, and the design of novel and innovative approaches to build and search large biological knowledge graphs for genotype to phenotype discovery.

The ideal candidate will have:

-Degree in Bioinformatics/Computer Science or substantial work experience in bioinformatics.

-Excellent programming skills in Java.

-Knowledge of semantic databases and knowledge graphs.

-Experience in building tools and resources used by scientists.
