Job Description:
BioPoint is seeking to hire a Computational Biologist / Bioinformatics specialist for a position in Cambridge, MA. This is not a laboratory scientist role.

The Applied Computational Biology team supports functional genomics projects across the entire drug pipeline from target discovery through pre-clinical and clinical development as well as manufacturing. This position will work closely with the scientists to design genomic experiments that incorporate NextGen Sequencing approaches (e.g., RNA-Seq, targeted amplicon sequencing) and will employ cutting edge bioinformatics approaches to support discovery of novel drug targets, biomarkers, compound mechanism of action, and improved quality control in therapeutic protein manufacturing.

This individual will work closely with the computational biology/genomics group, data sciences team, wet lab scientists and key stakeholders to understand immediate requirements in analyzing large scale biological network data. The contractor will be expected to analyze RNASeq and proteomic data and apply open source R packages to create and annotate biological networks that will be used to drive target and biomarker discovery for the drug programs. With a basic background in biology, the individual is also expected to interact, on regular bases, with biologists to understand their needs and deliver results back in layman’s language.

Qualifications:

-Experience with network analysis algorithms or graph theory, and an understanding of how biological networks are derived from genomic and proteomic data, is required;

-Experience with one or more of the following is required: Python, R, Java, Bash, Perl, Relational Databases;

-Experience analyzing large scale genomic data such as RNAseq, DNASeq, proteomics, etc is desired;

-Knowledge of various biological databases (BioGRID, String, HumanNet) is desired;

-Experience working in cross-functional groups at the intersection of data analytics and biology is desired.

Required:

B.S. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genetics, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, or a related field or discipline with an emphasis on genomics and bioinformatics. M.S. or Ph.D. is desired.
