Job Description:
The primary role of this position is to generate and test robust tools for sequence data analysis. The bioinformatics scientist will be responsible for keeping up to date with modern genotyping and bioinformatic algorithms. She/he will have the ability to customize and commercialize existing ArcherDX and third party tools. Ultimately this involves ad-hoc and custom analysis and algorithm development, executed in disciplined fashion such that the products these efforts may be rapidly transitioned to ArcherDX’s commercial software. The bioinformatics scientist will work closely with molecular biologist to analyze and interpret the results of scientific experiments. This individual must also be able to translate requirements from the molecular biology team to formal analyses and/or algorithm specifications. The bioinformatics scientist will combine novel techniques, algorithms and third party tools to rapidly address ad hoc analyses, as well as build trustworthy data processing tools. - Organization, curation and completion sprint tasks as assigned
- Algorithm development in sequence analysis and quantitative data analysis
- Exploratory ad-hoc analysis of experiments
- Data analysis and visualization
- Algorithm testing and optimization
- Design scalable, maintainable and well tested commercial grade software
- Additional duties as assigned
- 4+ years of bioinformatics experience
- Proficiency with python and standard bioinformatics tools (e.g. GATK, bowtie, bwa, etc)
- Formal statistics background is a plus
- Formal software development experience (preferred)
- 2+ years in an industry setting (preferred)
- BS/MS/PhD in bioinformatics, computer science or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
