Job Description:
The Bioinformatics Training Facility of the School of Biological Sciences is looking for a Bioinformatics Training Developer. The post-holder will assist the Bioinformatics Training Manager to develop and deliver bioinformatics training courses at the University of Cambridge; liaise with other training providers, in Cambridge and across the UK to establish a network of training experts to share best practices in training; identify training gaps, and develop solutions to address them, aligning efforts with other training providers across the country.

The Bioinformatics Training Facility is a key contributor to ELIXIR (http://www.elixir-europe.org/), a unique undertaking that consolidates Europe's bioinformatics resources, services, and national centres into a single, coherent infrastructure. Through its Training Platform, ELIXIR seeks to fill training gaps left by transformative technologies in medicine and the life sciences, including how big data is generated, analysed and interpreted.

The successful applicant should have a degree in a biomedical subject and experience in training other researchers to use bioinformatics tools, and/or the development of training materials or documentation. Familiarity with using bioinformatics services to solve biological problems is desirable. In addition to being highly self-motivated, the ideal candidate should have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work well as part of a team. Ability to work to deadlines is also essential.
