In this capacity, the candidate will support the discovery of novel biomarkers, drug sensitivity and resistance signatures, and genomic alterations involved in tumorigenesis. The analyst will work closely with colleagues in cancer genomics, computational biology, and clinical development to establish methods for clinical data mining and downstream statistical analyses. The candidate will also assist in the investigation of novel cancer gene alterations, including annotation using publicly-available online resources (e.g. UniProt, TCGA, etc.) and in the preparation of scientific manuscripts. This position requires a high level of professional maturity, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and exquisite attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

-Integrate appropriate clinical data with next-generation sequencing output in collaboration with scientists in cancer genomics; apply statistical analyses when needed.

-Collaborate with internal and external scientists and physicians to enhance research efforts and efficiency.

-Contribute to broader projects within Research and Development.

Qualifications:

-Experience in programming (e.g. Python, Java, C++).

-Familiarity with cancer genetics/genomics, next generation sequencing principles, and targeted therapies.

-Ability to analyze and critically interpret scientific literature.

-Unsurpassed reliability, high ethical standards, and unparalleled integrity.

Desired Skills and Experience:

-Experience working with large-scale datasets; previous work with clinical data is desired, but not required.

-Working knowledge of clinical nomenclature and medical classifications in oncology.

-Working knowledge of cancer genetics/genomics and experience with next-generation sequencing.

-Experience in natural language processing.

-Previous cancer research experience in academia or industry.

Education or Experience:

-Minimum B.S. (or equivalent) with a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related health-sciences field. M.S. preferred.

-Experience with bioinformatics tools (e.g. NCBI, UCSC Genome Browser, IGV, UniProt) and publicly available genomic datasets (e.g. TCGA).
