Job Description:
We seek a talented R package developer to participate in the implementation, improvement and maintenance of tools used by the client's Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Department. A successful candidate will work as part of a team of four in a diverse and deeply experienced group of scientists and engineers. Our group focuses on methods development / integration on topics such as RNASeq-based isoform quantitation, ChIPSeq and NGS-derived DNA copy number + LOH quantification. We also create prototype GUIs (Shiny, etc.) to help our bench scientists get hands-on with their data. Responsibilities: -Implement and/or integrate genomic methods in a linux + R environment. -Apply software engineering best practices to bring prototype bioinformatics pipelines into production. -Create prototype GUIs for analysis tools (Shiny, Spotfire, etc.) -Perform bioinformatics analyses supporting large-scale drug-screening and CRISPR knockout experiments (depending on candidate background). Skills: -Expert R language programmer -CRAN/BioConductor package authors preferred -julia, perl, python, etc. and C and SQL also helpful -Experience analyzing NGS data -UNIX/linux proficiency -Understanding of bioinformatics tools -Familiarity with R’s BioConductor tools is a plus Education: M.S or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics or similar
