Job Description:
This position is a unique opportunity to join the laboratory of Sekar Kathiresan, Director of the Center for Genomic Medicine and Cardiovascular Initiative at the Broad Institute, and the Broad-Bayer collaboration. We seek to understand the cells and genes that cause cardiovascular disease, with a focus on new single cell RNA-sequencing technology.

We are looking for a talented computational biologist to join our team. The successful candidate will lead and participate in projects to apply single cell analysis methods to cardiovascular data, and work closely with the large single cell community at the Broad Institute and the Human Cell Atlas.

The Cardiovascular Broad-Bayer collaboration is a dynamic, interdisciplinary group with expertise cutting edge scientific and computational technologies, with the potential for widespread recognition of scientific contributions.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

  • Design and implement methods for single cell analysis of biological data
  • Collaborate with experimentalists and computational biologists to develop and apply functional genomics techniques
  • Collaborate with Broad Institute single cell analysis community and Human Cell Atlas group
  • Design and lead independent projects
  • Create scientifically rigorous visualizations, communications, and presentations of results
  • Contribute to generation of protocols, publications, and intellectual property
  • Maintain and organize computational infrastructure and resources
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. in computational biology, genetics, computer science, statistics, math, molecular biology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Talented applicants of all levels are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical methods in single cell data analysis, including working knowledge of Seurat R package.
  • Interest in molecular biology and genomics
  • Fluency in Unix, standard bioinformatics tools (Python, R, or equivalent), and a programming language (C/C++, Java)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Creative, organized, motivated, team player
