Job Description:
The Division of Epigenetics is seeking a Computational Biologist or Bioinformatician. We are looking to strengthen our team with a bioinformatician to support our analysis of marbled crayfish as an innovative model for clonal genome evolution. The project's main goal is the characterization of mutation patterns in whole-genome sequencing datasets and the analysis of genetic relationships in various populations. The project offers opportunities to work with several cutting-edge next-generation sequencing platforms (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore). The team is international and multidisciplinary in a lively and friendly working atmosphere, with a state-of-the-art computational infrastructure.

Your profile:

We are looking to expand our team by a dedicated and strongly motivated scientist with a distinct interest in the challenges of next-generation sequencing data analysis. Applicants should hold a diploma or master's degree in bioinformatics, or related fields, with a solid background in the application of sequencing-based bioinformatic tools and basic knowledge of molecular genetics. Demonstrable skills in programming and biostatistics (e. g. Python, R) and in a Linux computing environment are required. Candidates also must have strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

The successful candidate will be working in an international and innovative environment, have access to a broad range of professional development courses and the possibility to contribute to projects at the frontier of cancer research. The project also offers the opportunity of acquiring a doctoral degree.

The position is initially limited to 2 years. The position can in principle be part-time.
