Job Description:
An ideal candidate will develop computational methods to either address existing challenges in analysis and interpretation of data generated by these assays, or enable data integration solutions to relate these disparate data sets to understand the role of epigenetic deregulation in tumor maintenance and drug sensitivity.

As a member of the Center for Personalized Diagnostics and Institute for Biomedical Informatics, a potential candidate will have opportunity to participate in both basic and translational research while collaborating with scientists across the Perelman School of Medicine.

A qualified candidate will be strongly motivated individual with following qualifications: a Ph.D. in computational sciences, engineering, physics, bioinformatics, or related field. Ability to program in Python/Perl and R in Unix environment, knowledge of SQL, C++ and/or Java is a plus. Demonstrated applied bioinformatics/computational proficiency evidenced by relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals is required.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in either physical or computational sciences:

. solid programming skills ( Python/Perl, R, SQL)

. computational genomics experience ( high throughput sequence analysis)

. excellent spoken and written communication and interaction skills

. publications in English in relevant areas of research in peer-reviewed journals.

Additional Info:
About the lab: Faryabi Lab is part of Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI) and Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) of the University of Pennsylvania. The primary focus of the lab is on combining novel computational and experimental methods to explore how oncogenic signalings impact tumors epigenome. To this end our lab benefits from cutting-edge technologies (10X Genomics, Fluidigm C1) and assays (HiChIP, single-cell ATAC-seq) to measure transcriptomics and epigenomics at the single cell resolution, and map the tumor’s genome topology.

Start date: As soon as possible
