Computational Plant BiologyUniversity of GeorgiaPlant Biology/Warnell/Institute of BioinformaticsAthens, GA, USA The University of Georgia invites applications at the Assistant/Associate Professor level for a tenure‐track faculty position addressing the big data/data science challenges posed by Computational Plant Biology
starting August 2016. We welcome applications from candidates who address fundamental computational,
technical, and biological challenges in plant biology using appropriate study systems including forest trees
and/or their interacting organisms. The candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the sciences or any related field and a strong research record at the interface of computational biology and plant sciences.

Candidates currently holding the rank of Associate Professor will be given consideration for hiring at that rank, depending upon experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will join our world‐class
interdisciplinary plant biology group, with a tenure home in the Franklin College Department of Plant Biology (http://www.plantbio.uga.edu/), and joint appointments in both the Institute of Bioinformatics
(http://iob.uga.edu/) and the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources
(http://www.warnell.uga.edu/). The faculty in these units are highly interactive and collaborate with plant
scientists across campus through the Plant Center (http://plantcenter.uga.edu/).

The successful candidate must have a PhD and record that demonstrates future leadership in the field of
computational biology and the ability to develop and maintain a high impact, externally funded research
program while mentoring the next generation of computational biologists through undergraduate and
graduate student training.
