Job Description:

ISCB Job Board

Post-doctoral position in computational epigenomics of cancerInstitut CochinDevelopment, reproduction and cancerParis Our newly created ATIP-Avenir group is looking for a post-doctoral fellow, to be funded for up to two years. The group focuses on cancer epigenomics with the aim to understand the role of epigenetic changes in cancer development and progression and associate these changes with genetics modifications. Currently the group works with neuroblastoma and adrenocortical carcinomas.
Our group is part of the big department of development, reproduction and cancer in Institut Cochin. The hospital and the research center of the institute are located in a nice central district of Paris close to Port Royal and in a walking proximity from the Luxembourg garden. The institute provides access to the state-of-the-art facilities including Genomics, Proteomics, and Imaging.
We offer an opportunity to work on a complex biological question, which is the role of the epigenetic remodeling in oncogenesis and the link between genetic and epigenetic changes in neuroblastoma and adrenocortical carcinomas, by applying high-throughput data analysis techniques. In particular, the first stage of this post-doctoral project will involve analysis of histone modification profiles in neuroblastoma and adrenocortical carcinoma primary tumors coupled with the analysis of genetic events (mutations and amplifications in cancer pathways). In addition to targeted sequencing and ChIP-seq data, this project may implicate production and analysis of ATAC-seq and RNA-seq datasets. Depending on the candidate’s background and experience, this project will involve development of computational methodology, data mining and wet lab experiments to validate computational results or work on drug sensitivity. The candidate will interact with top leading groups in cancer biology that are parts of the laboratory of endocrine tumors and signaling of Institut Cochin and the laboratory of genetics and biology of cancers of Institut Curie.

Starting date: January 1, 2016 or later

Group website: http://cochin.inserm.fr/Departements/drc/equipe-v-boeva The candidate can come both from the bioinformatics or molecular biology fields but should be highly motivated to work with big data and dig into cancer epigenomics. A doctoral degree, experience in bioinformatics analysis, and proficiency in English, are required. Programming skills, strong computational and mathematical background or experience in cellular and molecular biology would be a plus.
