Job Description:
Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a division of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies is recruiting for an Scientist, located in Spring House, PA.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative computational scientist to join the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) team within Immunology Biomarkers. Our team focuses on biomarker identification, development, and application. We use proteomic, genomic, microbiome, and transcriptomic approaches on clinical trial samples to support current and future clinical trial patient stratification. As a Scientist, you will have the opportunity to develop novel computational tools and communicate findings to the broader team. You will also manage and establish collaborations with key external partners such as research groups in academia, biotech, or contracted research organizations. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a highly dynamic environment and interact comfortably with scientists from Immunology Biomarkers, Immunology Discovery, Clinical Development, Janssen Human Microbiome Institute, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop/Evaluate and implement bioinformatics tools
  • Analyze internal and external -omic data sets to develop and discover novel biomarkers
  • Collaborate across the Janssen therapeutic areas when appropriate
  • Maintain scientific advancement, emerging approaches and innovations in the NGS analysis fields
Qualifications:
  • PhD in Bioinformatics or similar discipline with expertise in Computational Biology, Immunology, Statistics, and Network Pharmacology / Systems Biology OR a MS in Bioinformatics or similar discipline with expertise in Computational Biology, Immunology, Statistics, and Network Pharmacology / Systems Biology and at least 3 years of experience in academic or industry setting is required
  • Previous experience with microbiome data and microbiome-related software (e.g. QIIME, Biobakery) is preferred
  • Experience with high content data analysis, such RNAseq, and proteomic data is required
  • Proficiency in standard analytical platforms (e.g. R, Bioconductor, Matlab) and programming (e.g. Python, C++) are required
  • Expertise in data QC is required as the individual will closely interface with lab personnel to ensure efficient flow of data and understanding of experiments to maximize efficiency
  • Experience with Gene Set Enrichment and pathway analysis software tools (e.g. GSEA/GSVA, Thomson-Reuters GeneGo, Ingenuity, Cytoscape) is preferred
  • Experience in the integration of –omics datasets and expertise in predictive algorithms, biomarker discovery and/or diagnostic development is preferred
