We are looking for an individual with a solid foundation in computational biology to join our group. The candidate will support the development of new software tools that will aid the workflow of our scientist. The candidate will be expected to have a strong programing background and should be able to effectively communicate with biologist. A background in structural biology is highly desired but not required. Skills And Responsibilities:
- Strong Object Oriented programming skills, with extensive experience programming in Java.
- Knowledge of SQL databases, including but not limited to Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL.
- Experience with user interface development using Swing, AWT, and/or JavaFX.
- A solid understanding of molecular biology.
- Knowledge of multi-tiered enterprise applications desired.
- Ability to oversee the development of software through a complete development cycle.
- Experience using one or more scripting languages (eg R, Perl, or Python).
- Experience with web application development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, JSP, Servlets)
- Experience working with multiple operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
- Knowledge of scientific computing, statistics, and/or machine learning a plus.
- A M.S. degree in computation science or computational bioinformatics or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of solid programming work experience in Java, C, or C++.
- Exposure to Bioinformatics, Biology, Structural Biology, Chemistry, or similar field through formal education or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A team player that is comfortable collaborating with many individuals across the company.
- Ability to translate ideas into visual software implementations.
- Strong organizational skills.
