Job Description:
The University of Tennessee’s Institute of Agriculture is seeking a computational biology/ bioinformatics Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on big data analytics as part of a large multi-institutional systems biology cyberinfrastructure project. This position is housed in Plant Sciences within UTIA.

Designed to meet the key challenges of systems biology (predicting and ultimately designing biological function), the cyberinfrastructure project integrates numerous biological datasets and analysis tools into a unified, extensible system that allows researchers to collaboratively generate and test hypotheses about biological functions. The project’s long-term goal is to help researchers to understand how plants and microbes interact with and affect each other and environmental processes and how these interactions could be harnessed for sustainable bioenergy and environmental solutions.

Candidates should possess expertise in advanced algorithm design, graph algorithms, combinatorial optimization, machine learning, high performance implementations, statistical data processing and the integration and analysis of large-scale heterogeneous data.

Requirements:

The position is available immediately. A Ph.D. in computer science is required. This position is grant funded and continued employment is contingent upon future funding. The compensation package includes a competitive salary, health benefits, career mentoring, and conference travel support.
