They are interested in hiring a Data Scientist, with experience analyzing large data sets, to join the existing team as the Manager of Data Science for the group. The role will be positioned in the cool and collaborative office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The role:
- As the Manager of the Data Science team you will take a leading role in solving some of healthcare's most ground-breaking data science problems with innovative technology.
- You will be expected to provide coaching, performance evaluation, and feedback to the junior Data Scientists on the team.
- You will be expected to adopt a very hands-on approach working with large scale structured and unstructured proprietary and public data.
- Essentially you will apply statistical and machine learning techniques in an R&D environment, as well as designing, developing and maintaining databases for commercial and scientific applications.
- Essentially you will have a minimum of five years experience and either a M.S. or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a similar discipline.
- You have a strong mathematical background alongside deep understanding in any of the following: data mining, machine learning, operations research, natural language processing, statistics, or information retrieval.
- You have proficiency in big data ecosystems such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm as well as programming languages like Python, Ruby, Java, or Scala.
- You'll have a thorough understanding of extracting, cleaning, preparing and modeling data.
- You have experience pertaining to command line scripting, utilizing data structures, and algorithms, with an additional ability to work in the Linux environment.
- Fundamentally you have excellent communication, interpretation and presentation skills as you will be expected to solve the math to solve the specific business problem, generating insights that can be translated in to actions for other teams within the organization.
- You enjoy working in a highly diverse and collaborative environment solving challenging problems while leading a team of like minded professionals.
- A positive professional outlook, organizational skills and strong work ethic are all considered to be key attributes for success in the Data Science team.
