Data Scientist (Bioinformatics)

Job Description:
RBW have partnered with a biotechnology start-up company to search for Data Scientists with a background in bioinformatics or computational biology.

There is room to join two areas of the business:

• Bioinformatic software solutions.
• Clinical data analytics

Due to growing demand from customers, we are looking to expand our portfolio of existing software solutions to interpret high volume genomics research data. We are looking for talented data scientists with an understanding of biology and how machine learning techniques can be used to identify new drug discovery opportunities.

Reporting to the Head of Data and Analytics, you will be working alongside 5 other bioinformaticians and data scientists who are passionate about improving the patient care of millions across the globe.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with data scientists to innovate cutting-edge software
• Create and improve data algorithms to identify and classify components of a biological system
• Provide on-site support to clients when necessary

Requirements:

• M.Sc/PhD in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Statistics or relevant field.
• Programming skills: R, Python, or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of SQL database
• Track record of utilising various Machine Learning techniques including tree-based solutions and deep learning (gradient boosting and neural networks advantageous)
• Strong interpersonal skills

As we are looking innovate new software solutions, we have openings for permanent positions for junior-mid level data scientists. However, if you have a proven track record of success in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and excellent data mining skills (i.e. deep learning) then you may be considered for an initial 6-12 month contract, with competitive rates.
