- Contribute to the team’s research and development activities; participate and lead some of the efforts.
- Formulate research problems based on national security and public health needs and conduct high-quality research.
- Develop tools and application prototypes of the proposed solutions.
- Conduct experiments to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the solutions.
- Create proof-of-concept technology demonstrations.
- Write well-structured and re-usable code in programming languages such as Java, C/C++, and Python.
- Generate creative solutions and publish research results in top venues (papers).
- Collaborate with researchers at world-class universities and organizations.
- Interact with startup companies that provide technology to government sponsors.
- Interface with intelligence community seniors about technology and data science.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:- Strong coding ability in Python in Linux environment and SQL.
- BS degree in a field of bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, biological engineering, or related.
- 3+ years of practical work experience with advanced analytic techniques, including data mining, data integration, machine learning, statistical analysis, and natural language processing.
- Experience putting together multivariate data sources.
- Experience with database systems.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills and algorithms analysis
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Strong coding ability in additional coding languages, such as Java, R, and C, and programming environments, such as MATLAB, iOS, and Windows.
- MS or PhD in a field of bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, biological engineering, or related.
- 3+ years practical work experience in epidemiology, disease modelling, biosurveillance, or digital health.
- Experience with integration and analysis of epidemiological, genomics, social, and geographic data.
- Excellent leadership, project management, organizational, and communication skills, including presenting at national conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
