Job Description:
The Director, Bioinformatics, will be a key member of Inari’s expanding leadership team and will play a critical role in shaping the company’s strategic direction. The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in crop data analytics as evidenced by publications in top tier journals, presentations at international meetings and a track record of transformational contributions to the field. The ability to successfully lead, recruit and cultivate a high achieving team that transforms data into relevant insights is critical to success in this role. Key Responsibilities: -Build and lead a world class team of computational biologists and data scientists -Develop and execute a strategic plan to deliver novel algorithms and analytical techniques -Collaborate with laboratory scientists and business teams to identify challenges, design experiments, and analyze data -Partner with IT and other computational teams to turn your team’s cutting-edge science into robust and reproducible discovery and analysis pipelines -Drive computational biology best practices, including adoption of cloud computing, development of reusable libraries, version control, automated testing, thorough documentation, and reproducible research. Minimum Qualifications: -Ph.D. in a biological or bioinformatics discipline with 5+ years of work experience -Proven track record and hands on experience defining and implementing computational solutions, including ability to program in languages suitable for scientific work or data science, such as R or Python. -Demonstrated leadership of highly effective teams and projects -Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with respect to computational solutions to scientific problems and conclusions from complex data analysis. -Ability to drive highly collaborative work and actively create new connections across our organization and outside the company. Preferred Qualifications: -Plant genomics domain expertise -Knowledge of plant biology -Experience leading data / computational scientists in both technical and career development. -Strong statistics and/or machine learning skills.
