Job Description:
This genomics company is looking for a Director of R&D Bioinformatics to report directly into their Chief Information Officer. The Director of Bioinformatics will direct a team responsible for bioinformatics pipeline and tools in a diagnostic environment. The individual will offer genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data production and analysis. Responsibilities: *Ensure high quality and cost effective bioinformatics algorithms *Ensure stable bioinformatics workflow *Quality management of the output for medical reporting *Management of relevant databases - Supporting databases for phenotype and genotype - Development and connection to metabolic analyses (mass spectrometry) *Incorporate state of the art new tools and algorithms in production and workflows *Develop and maintain a state of the art bioinformatics pipeline *Develop a competitive cloud offering based on the companies tools and proprietary mutation database. -Service and software design based on competitive analysis - Implementation of the services - Launch and maintenance *Collaboration with partners (providers and collaboration labs) *Evaluate and prepare management decision on in-house resources and out-sourcing Requirements: *>5 years bioinformatics experience including modelling and algorithms *Knowledge of software development and project management *Experience with cloud offerings is highly advantageous *Prior managerial experience *Educated to at least Masters level in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, or comparable.
