Job Description:
We are looking for a Director of Bioinformatics (40 hours per week) in our Elmwood Park, NJ location.

Schedule: Full Time

**Salary is dependent upon experience**

Position Summary:

The Director of BioInformatics will support the growing Genomics initiatives. The Genomics Program is a CAP/CLIA-certified diagnostics laboratory dedicated to providing clinically useful, cost effective and rapid testing solutions to advance the field of personalized medicine. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience leading software development and implementation teams to lead our ongoing efforts. The role will include close coordination and ongoing collaboration with divisional IT/Informatics teams and the clinical laboratory. Projects include laboratory information management system (LIMS) development and deployment, oversight of primary data processing in an HPC environment, data management and storage and developing new tools for genomic report writing.

Position Responsibilities:

Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to all members of the bioinformatics team.
  • Provide vision and guidance on the future directions of the bioinformatics group. Participate in the design of the processes, and the implementation of data analysis improvements.
  • Establish best-in-practice operations.
  • Recruit and retain talented bioinformaticians.
  • Introduce and implement advanced databases to enable clinical decision support, particularly those used in cancer.
Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

  • Ph.D. Computational biology, electrical/computer engineering, mathematics, physics, molecular biology, or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge of the current methods in genomic bioinformatics.
  • Experience organizing and working with 'Big Data'.
  • Knowledge of systems and computational biology.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentational).
  • Strong knowledge of genetics and genomics with mastery and ability to mentor others in bioinformatics fundamentals.
