Job Description:
CSRA is seeking an entry level Software Developer to join our team in Atlanta supporting the CDC by developing applications for bioinformatics. This individual will support and assist multiple stakeholders in the development, implementation, and administration of computational systems and tools to meet the CDC's growing demands on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies and complex data management.

In this role you will work with diverse team members, including Linux and High Performance Computing (HPC) administrators, as well as bioinformatics scientists, to develop and implement tools to translate scientific data into meaningful insights using contemporary technologies. Ultimately, this role is to build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software that complies with coding standards and technical design.

Required Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. No work experience is required but is highly desired.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on web application development using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript including SASS/LESS, ES6, modern frameworks and third party/open-source libraries
  • Experience with MV* frameworks for front-end development (e.g., Ember, Angular, React, Backbone).
  • Knowledge of Node.js and frameworks available for it, such as Express, StrongLoop, Hapi, etc..
  • Experience consuming and writing RESTful apis.
  • Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds.
  • Familiar with visualization libraries such as D3, Highcharts, Google Charts, Canvas.js, or Dygraphs
  • Experience developing and supporting web applications that achieve cross-browser support through standards compliance (e.g. HTML5, JavaScript polyfills, CSS shims, etc.)
  • Prototype with emerging technologies to prove product feature sets and enhance SDLC
  • Drive the adoption of conventions and best practices for development
  • Improve user experience and provide elegant and performant interfaces to the customers
  • Ensure instrumentation and coverage metrics are addressed.
  • Some knowledge of Non-Relational Databases (MongoDB, CouchDB/Couchbase, etc.)
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as Jasmine, Mocha, Chai, and Jest.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes
  • User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Familiarity with TypeScript
  • DevOps, CI/CD Knowledge
  • Containers (Docker) Knowledge
  • Experience working in agile teams following either Kanban or Scrum.
