Job Description:
We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related major for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the Research Inflammation and Autoimmunity department.

The goal for this internship is to expand our Respiratory, Inflammation, and Autoimmunity (RIA) gene expression database to support drug discovery and development within the department. Efforts will primarily be focused on retrieving available datasets from Asthma, COPD, and other respiratory diseases. In the end, an expanded database will enable our scientists to explore how gene expression impacts diverse diseases.

Core Responsibilities:

The chosen candidate will be responsible for shepherding large genomics datasets into our gene expression database. Intern will collaborate with scientists to curate key datasets and develop our ability to investigate clinical endpoints of importance to RIA drug development efforts. Upon completion of internship, the intern will present expanded database and meta-analysis in a scientific setting.

Position Requirements:

  • Proficiency in any programming language required, R, Python experience preferred
  • Undergraduate Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Seniors
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0+
