We are seeking a highly motivated and driven engineer who will play an integral role in expanding the informatics efforts at Alkahest. This role will be multi-disciplinary and demand creative solutions to ensure the novel research occurring at Alkahest is properly supported. We offer a competitive compensation package. RESPONSIBILITIES Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop in-house applications to enable the management of proprietary data
- Develop analytical pipelines to automate large scale proteomic analysis
- Architect solutions across terrestrial as well as cloud based systems
- Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data as well as identify novel methodologies and visualization techniques
- Develop tools to integrate public resources with proprietary knowledge
- Evaluate, implement and support commercial informatics tools
- Actively identify new developments in informatics as well as software engineering that would benefit Alkahest
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Life Sciences or Engineering or three or more years relevant work experience
- Experience with a scripting language such as Python, Ruby or Perl
- Experience developing static and dynamic web sites
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or MySQL
- Experience working in a Linux based environment
- Experience providing end-user/client support
- Ability to balance consensus building with championing your ideas
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
- Strong communicator with the ability to maintain an open dialog with employees, corporate partners, and vendors
- Knowledge of bioinformatics principles, tools, and databases
- Strong team spirit but also ability to work independently
- Experience with mass spectrometry data is a plus
