Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Versed in all aspects of the LINUX operating systems and will accomplish or direct the accomplishment of initial configuration and ongoing system maintenance and support;
  • Act as senior corporate LINUX OS resource;
  • Provide guidance and consultation in technical matters such as network integration and hardware selection;
  • Provide support in the development of custom bioinformatics tools, software, databases and web interfaces;
  • Provide standard bioinformatics tools and software installation and maintenance;
  • Provide web application development including web servers, application servers, data storage, and user interfaces;
  • Typical support will be server and network administration as well as preparing and maintaining IT resources to comply with required government dictated security requirements including ICD 703, RMF, NISPOM, and FISMA certifications.
Education: Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience

Years of experience: 10 to 15 years

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Unix/Linux systems administration;
  • Experience with Solaris, RHEL/CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu LTS;
  • Experience with virtualization solutions such as VirtualBox and LVS;
  • Accomplished Informatics Systems Administrator;
  • Experience with Corporate IT service and network administration;
  • Tack sharp systems and network troubleshooting skills, as well as experience in dynamic languages (i.e. R, Ruby, and Python);
  • Database development and management skills (MySQL preferred), as well as experience in handling data in other formats, including but not limited to XML and JSON flat files;
  • General-purpose programming language skills (Java or C/C++) and user interface (HTML/CSS) skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills to enable productive technical interactions are essential. The ability to work in a service-oriented multi-disciplinary team environment to meet the needs of internal and external teams is required.
