In this role, you will work closely with the VP, Head of Legal and Compliance to develop and execute forward-looking IP strategy for projects and portfolios in line with company business goals. But it doesn’t end there. Here’s a summary of this great opportunity: Job Description: -Develop and execute a forward looking IP strategy for projects and portfolios in line with company business goals. -Collaborate within and across business units to identify and capture high value innovation. -Prepare and prosecute global patent applications. -Manage patent prosecution and litigation work by outside counsel in the US and abroad. -Interface on IP matters with Proteus network of strategic partners, investors and customers. -Contribute to intellectual property assessments in mergers, acquisitions and investments. -Work strategically and collaboratively with members of the legal department and senior business leaders. -Contribute to educational efforts across business on best practices for IP. -Drive operational excellence within legal and across the business. Qualifications: -Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Biomedical, Bioinformatics or related field. -U.S. Law Degree from accredited law school. -California bar membership required. -USPTO Registration Number required. -3-8 years of experience with patent prosecution required. -Experience in private law firm required. -Prior work in both large and small companies preferred. -Experience with global patent prosecution, patent appeals, re-examination, re-issue, inter partes reviews proceedings, and litigation strongly preferred. -Demonstrated strong strategic and analytical thinking. -Proven track record as team player with creative problem solving skills and ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment. -Clear and flexible communication skills. -Exemplifies highest ethical standards. -Excellent organizational skills along with strong attention to detail. -Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with small, cross-functional teams.
