WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

Adaptive Biotechnologies is looking for an outstanding Summer Intern in Computational Biology to build novel statistical models of adaptive immune cells and repertoires. We have a variety of possible projects available for qualified applicants, such as (i) developing Bayesian models of malignant B/T cells during cancer treatment, (ii) developing novel metrics for characterizing the diversity of an adaptive immune repertoire, and (iii) developing model-based clustering approaches and visualizations for TCRs that bind a common antigen.

You will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Designing and implementing novel statistical methods
  • Exploratory data analysis and visualization
  • Collaborating with wet lab scientists, computational biologists, and statisticians
  • Presenting results to a wide variety of stakeholders within a company
  • Writing reproducible code

Required Experience:

Required:

  • A strong quantitative background, with multiple years of experience at the graduate level in a field like statistics, population genetics, computational biology, or similar.
  • Proficiency in at least one language for scientific computing (python, R, perl, etc.)
Preferred:
  • Experience building, implementing, and testing Bayesian and likelihood models
  • Previous coursework or research on the adaptive immune system
  • Publicly available code from previous projects
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams
