Job Description:
This is a full-time intern role from June – August 2018 based in Cambridge, MA.

The Translational Integrative Analytics group within Research and Early Development is committed to developing advanced analytics capabilities to leverage human biology data from external and internal sources to drive drug discovery and development and biomarker and patient stratification hypotheses. As part of this effort, we seek to leverage Biogen’s internal and public clinical data resources in neurological diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinsons’ disease. We seek a computational intern to work with one or more of these datasets to find molecular markers (genetic, genomic) correlated with clinical outcomes, apply biological context using knowledgebases and interaction networks, and to apply unsupservised analytical methods to infer clinically relevant patient subgroups.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in applying statistical methods to biological datasets. Ability to write good quality, documented code in R or python.
  • Basic knowledge of biology and genomics methods.
  • Independent, self-motivated with the ability to think critically.
To participate in the Biogen Intern Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, returning to the academic program following Biogen Intern assignment
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.2 preferred
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies
Education:
  • Graduate (PhD) student in bioinformatics, computational biology, neuroscience or related quantitative discipline
