Job Description:
We are looking for an outgoing scientist with a background and interest in bioinformatics. The candidate should understand the value of using systems biology approaches to address translational biology questions. As a solution scientist, they will work within the global scientific team who are responsible for pre and post sales scientific support of our MetaCore, Integrity, and Biomarkers solutions along with other related products and services within the Life Sciences Discovery and Translational Science portfolio.

Primary job responsibilities include technical and scientific demos and training to customers (pharmaceutical companies, biotech, academics), customer support, customer visits, and presentations at scientific and industry meetings. By developing and maintaining customer relationships, the solution scientist enables the Clarivate team to develop a deep understanding of the scientific focus and directions of the customers that we support. Acting as scientific expert in the field, the solution scientist matches customer needs with Clarivate scientific solutions in Discovery and Translational Science, expanding collaborative sales engagements. This involves working as a close team with sales account managers and services team members at Clarivate.

The solution scientist should be a motivated and articulate individual who can quickly learn and demonstrate various software tools with a high level of scientific and technical expertise. The position demands a great level of flexibility and “on-the-fly” thinking in order to relate our products and services to the scientific challenges of professionals and academics working in biomedical research.

The candidate should have the ability to demonstrate fluid reasoning skills by applying the most relevant scientific and technical knowledge at any level of drug discovery, development, safety assessment, validation, and/or translational research.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with the sales team to provide onsite and web-based demonstrations, training and workshops in support of sales activities to clients and by articulating the benefits and value of the Life Science Discovery and Translational Sciences solutions portfolio
  • Participate in activities including: gathering and responding to technical questions, product trainings and demos, conducting project scoping sessions for customer solutions, scientific use case generation, and sharing of best practices for customer facing activities.
  • Proactively initiate, design and deliver workshops, webinars, thought leadership materials with the goal of growing revenue for LS either through engagement with existing clients or identification of new business
  • Attend multi client conferences / trade shows presenting posters / or sessions as required
  • Provide feedback to product management and sales on client’s use of products, value they find in our solutions and any additional service / product needs
  • Provide escalation support for customer services and other colleagues on product related issues.
  • Use CRM as an activity planning tool and to capture all client related activity.
  • Offer strong customer service skills as demonstrated by ability to anticipate and meet customer needs and build relationships.
  • Identify opportunities and work closely with the account teams in order to maintain and further develop client satisfaction and retention.
  • Keep on top of regional trends, customer pain points and hot topics to feed back to proposition and professional services teams to enable sales conversations to be tailored to the market.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Strong background and depth of knowledge in biological sciences or bioinformatics.
  • Practical experience in systems biology techniques and platforms with an understanding of how they may be applied to biomarker discovery, mechanism reconstruction and target identification
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills with the ability to distill complex information into simple understandable terms
  • Candidate should be an efficient multi-tasker, as he/she will be working in a very high-pace, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to gain and retain customer confidence and respect.
  • Good time management skills to plan and prioritize workload and demands.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with remote cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Travel requirement is up to 25%.
  • Builds strong relationships internally and externally with core stakeholders.
  • Customer focused and an active listener.
  • Consistently delivers on commitments.
Qualifications and Languages:
  • PhD or Master's in Life Sciences, especially in Biology, Biochemistry or Bioinformatics
  • 2+ years working in a lab environment
  • Experience with MetaCore and/or other similar pathway analysis tool
  • Experience working in a drug discovery and translational research environment
  • Experience using R/Bioconductor or other scientific programming languages
  • Some experience in SQL would be beneficial
