Job Description:
Join PGDx as a Lead Software Engineer and help fight cancer by leading the development of software for in-vitro diagnostic products based on cutting edge, high throughput DNA sequencing technologies. RESPONSIBILITIES: -Hands-on software development leader of an agile software, test, and requirements team. -Product owner and responsible for the success of the software development process, determining priorities, gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating that into team stories. -Intermediary between software development/test and internal/external customers. -Ensure that software is developed according to PGDx design control guidelines for our in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) device product line. -Develop efficient, elegant, reusable software components, and manage the team to those same levels of code quality. -Expert level hands-on knowledge of one or more of Perl, python, JavaScript, on a Linux platform. -Document software requirements, design, risk factors, and requirements traceability. -Handle distractions in order to keep the rest of the team productive. -Engage in strategic project planning, then execute the plan, in coordination with other teams. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: -Bachelors or Masters in computer science, bioinformatics, or equivalent educational background. -5+ years of software development and software leadership experience. -Experience with design and architecture of scalable “big data” parallel analysis systems. -Top-notch software engineer with experience developing code that is portable, readable, elegant, and maintainable. -Experience with bioinformatics, genomic sequence data analysis, and/or FDA regulated medical device software, or other standards-based software development process. -Experience with Scrum or other agile processes. -Experience with development and process tools like GIT, Jira, confluence, and bamboo. -Experience with software team leadership and scrum-style product ownership.
