Job Description:
The Computer Science Department at The University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for two full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer to start in the Spring semester of 2018 or in the Fall semester of 2018. Primary responsibilities are to provide high-quality teaching and service to the Department. One of these positions will be expected to coordinate our very large BSIT program with the Division of Online and Continuing Education, serving over 1,200 students. These positions are renewable annually, potentially leading to an appointment as Senior Lecturer following six consecutive years of outstanding performance evaluations. Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment. The teaching load will be three courses per semester. Responsibilities will consist of teaching existing courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate would also be involved in advising undergraduate students, service and outreach activities, and actively participating in continuing efforts to improve the department's educational mission. Examples of courses that candidates are expected to teach include: Computing I (Introduction to computing in C), Computing II (data structures in C), Computing III (object orientation in C++), and other undergraduate courses. The Department is looking to fill a number of tenure-track/tenured positions in the next few years. The Computer Science faculty have received approximately $10M in the last two years in external research funding from the NSF, DARPA, DOD, DHE, NIH, and corporations.
