Job Description: UES, Inc. is seeking a Microbiologist to support research projects with AFRL/RXAS in the field of biofouling and microbiologically induced degradation of materials. The successful candidate will design, execute, and evaluate research experiments in the area of microbial physiology and its relationship to biofouling, to include characterization of microorganisms and microorganism communities through molecular, biochemical, and microscopic methods. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience and knowledge in microbial physiology, bioinformatics (transcriptomics/metagenomics/whole genome sequencing), confocal microscopy, and biochemistry. Experience in fungal physiology/mycology is highly desired. The researcher will document and present research progress in forms of reports, publications, and oral presentations. Travel to scientific conferences and reviews is expected. This position directly supports basic research in the Soft Matter Materials Branch within the Materials Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory, and will be located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, near Dayton, OH. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education and Experience - Required Experience: 1-5 years" postdoctoral experience in the field of microbiology. Track record of excellent communication skills, to include peer reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Required Education: The successful candidate will hold a PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field of study.
