The Clinical Pharmacology Department at Genentech, Inc. is seeking four (4) experienced and independent programmers as Modeling and Simulation Analyst (MSA) at various levels, from Associate MSA, MSA, to Senior MSA. The MSA group sits in the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Group within the Clinical Pharmacology Department and is responsible for the programming support for PKS datasets and M&S support. These datasets and analyses generally integrate trial, patient, dosing, drug concentration, pharmacodynamic response, clinical efficacy and safety information of clinical studies. Daily responsibilities include dataset planning, designing, developing, graphical evaluation, QC, regulatory submission, reporting of PKS and M&S datasets and simple M&S analyses, if applicable. The individual is expected to acquire the basic Clinical Pharmacology and M&S knowledge to perform such tasks. He/she may support internal/external presentation and reporting of data section and other sections of M&S analysis plans and results as applicable. They may assist or sometimes lead the development of standardization and process optimization for PKS and M&S. This position may also contribute to departmental initiatives such as literature database, pharmacogenomics database, real world data, system infrastructure, software/tool and other efforts. All of the above will be accomplished by working in close partnership with other employees in Clinical Pharmacology, SPA, CDM, quality control teams and study management teams. Qualified individual could also be responsible for managing and/or mentoring contractor programmers and/or junior MSAs.

Requirements

Candidate should have solid hands-on expertise in SAS, R, or S-Plus programming. Experience in data pooling and graphical representation of clinical trial data is highly desired. Knowledge of the drug development process, clinical data systems and global regulatory standards on datasets is preferred. Strong analytical, organization and communication skills, attention to detail, as well as working effectively in a multidisciplinary team setting are essential. Candidate must be open-minded and ready to learn new concepts and tools. Experience with M&S dataset, methodologies, and software (such as NONMEM) is preferred, but not required. Education requirements include a M.S., B.S. or equivalent experience in Statistics, Mathematics, Pharmacometrics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with (1) 0+ year of experience for M.S. or at least two years for B.S. for Associate M&S Analyst; (2) at least two years of experience in a similar role or four years in a statistical programming role for M&S Analyst; (3) at least five years of experience in a similar role or nine years in a statistical programming role for Senior M&S Analyst.
