The Bioinformatics Core Facility at the NHLBI/NIH is seeking highly-qualified and highly-motivated scientists in Bioinformatics to work at the forefront of genomics research at the NHLBI. We are integrating and analyzing a massive and growing collection of genomics data. The incumbent will serve as an integral part of the core facility by developing workflow and analysis pipelines, software tools, and databases, and applying them for the analysis of high-throughput genomics, epigenomics, proteomics and metabolomics data.  The candidate must be very comfortable working in a team environment, and possess strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Developing scripts and software to parse, process, and analyze genome-wide data sets, with a focus on next-generation sequencing data such as WGS, WES, RNA-seq, Methyl-seq, Proteomics, and Metabolomics. Running analysis programs in parallel on large compute clusters; integrate, organize and analyze program output. Assist the Principal Investigator in designing and implementing the research project, including help with power analysis for replication estimation. Manage datasets in file servers and ensure appropriate backups, etc. In charge of transferring and managing dataset in file servers. Ensure completeness, correctness and integrity of analyses and datasets. Position Requirements and Qualifications: The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, analyzing, and validating bioinformatics pipelines and software tools in support of project research objectives. The candidate will have strong informatics skills that will include the use of programming and/or scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, and R. The candidate should have knowledge of bioinformatics principles and, hands-on experience with Next Generation Sequence data. Candidate must be very comfortable working in a team environment, and possess strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work independently are required. Applicants must have a M.Sc. or Ph.D. (or equivalent) and have significant experience in High-throughput Bioinformatics. In particular, experience in high throughput Next-Generation Sequencing is essential. Salary and appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
