Job Description:
This Network Biologist/Pharmacologist position will support R&D projects with a primary focus on understanding mechanisms of toxicity through pathway/network analysis of integrated datasets. The incumbent will bring his/her expertise in network biology or pharmacology to generate mechanistic hypotheses, while being familiar with and capable of leading experimental hypothesis testing applying contemporary cell and molecular laboratory approaches. Specifically, the incumbent will also manage our genomics core laboratory and be responsible for prioritization of laboratory activities and supervision of technical scientific staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Network biology/pharmacology subject expert to aid in de-risking of projects and development of safety strategy
  • Utilizes network biology/pharmacology and pathway analysis/visualization for mechanistic hypothesis generation
  • Independently designs and supervises the conduct of cell and molecular in vitro/ex vivo experimental approaches supporting mechanistic hypothesis testing
  • Conceives and oversees the development of new methodologies that can be used to address mechanism of toxicity for novel therapeutics
  • Interprets study results and develops further recommendations on implications
  • Independently communicates results, interacts and communicates effectively within a multidisciplinary project team setting
  • Actively participates in relevant external meeting activities and reviews current relevant literature, generates external presentations or peer-reviewed publications
  • Responsible for 3-4 direct reports including supervision and prioritization of workload, and staff instruction, mentoring and career development. Indirectly influences the performance and development of other group technical scientists
Requirements:
  • PhD, DVM degree from an accredited institution or equivalent with five plus (5+) years of relevant experience in Network or Systems Biology/Pharmacology, Bioinformatics or related field
  • Generation of hypotheses and designing experimental approaches for understanding mechanism of toxicity using cell and molecular in vitro/ex vivo methodologies.
  • Proven ability in network pharmacology and data visualization of integrated datasets.
  • Experience with hypothesis generation and experimental design.
  • Works independently, and is also effective in working and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a matrix setting
  • Demonstrated, established skills in network or systems biology/pharmacology, pathway analysis and visualization.
  • Proficient in using common bioinformatics systems, as well as molecular interaction, network/pathway analysis and visualization tools
  • Regulatory authority review and submissions. Working within a facility that is GLP regulated.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
