Job Description:
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated, goal oriented computational biologist/data scientist for a postdoctoral research position to implement genomic and bioinformatics approaches to study plant-virus interactions. Our research program focuses on molecular mechanisms of plant-virus interactions, particularly, antiviral defense and virus replication. The successful candidate will lead a project to develop innovative computational approaches to systematically generate and analyze protein, transcript and small RNA sequencing date. Our lab is located at the Nebraska Center for Virology and is part of the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor both undergraduate and graduate students. Salary and benefits are as determined by NIH standards.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

PhD required in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, molecular biology, plant biology, genetics, plant pathology or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications :

• High proficiency with Linux and Python or Perl programming.

• Experience analyzing proteomic or next generation sequencing data as demonstrated by publications.

• Experience generating protein or RNA sequencing data or strong willingness to learn.

• Excellent scientific and writing skills.

• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
