Job Description:
Uppsala University, Department of Neuroscience Unit of Functional Pharmacology Post doctoral fellow CNS pathologies; Molecular mechanisms and clinical studies related to obesity, anorexia, craving, depression and anxiety The research focuses on CNS pathologies such as obesity, anorexia, craving, depression and anxiety from both molecular and clinical perspective. We aim to understand broad range of CNS pathologies using molecular biology, behavioural and pharmacological methods. We are interested in candidates with strong background in at least one of the following fields; human genetics/epigenetics, human clinical studies, drosophilia genetics, neuroanatomy or bioinformatics. Our interest is restricted because of funding reasons to post doctoral fellows with 1) PhD from Europe, America or Japan, 2) PhD degree within three years, 3) a record of published papers in highly rated international journals (at least three first name papers). The unit is led by professor Helgi B. Schiöth, who is listed on Thomson Reuters list of the worlds “most influential researchers”, based on citations. Professor Schiöth is one of the most productive scientists at the Medical Faculty at Uppsala University. The group includes two associate professors, 6 post doctoral fellows, about 10 PhD students, guest researchers, short time students totalling more than 30 persons. We work actively to provide excellent individual career development with well document track record. Several of our previous PhD students and post doctoral fellows have become independent researchers. The post doctoral fellow will have opportunity to guide PhD students and there will be excellent possibilities to participate in integrated collaboration studies including the Uppsala University Hospital, SciLife Laboratories and Karolinska Institute. Applications and enquires should be addressed to helgis@bmc.uu.se at any time, but preferably before the end of March 2016. www.uu.se.
