Post-Doctoral Research Fellow - Epigenetics/bioinformaticsUniversity of North DakotaBiomedical SciencesUSA-North Dakota-Grand Forks The Epigenetics for Anti-Epileptogenic Therapy (EAT) research group in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of North Dakota, is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow in epigenetics/bioinformatics area to study the role of epigenetic mechanisms during epileptogenesis, the development of epilepsy, and to demonstrate the anti-epileptogenic efficacy of enhancing brain energy metabolism through epigenetic modulation.

Candidates will join a research team working in the fields of neuroscience (Prof. Jonathan Geiger), epigenetics (Prof. Joyce Ohm), and bioinformatics (Prof. Junguk Hur). The position is part of an interdisciplinary network including clinicians and exploring how epileptogenesis is regulated through epigenetic modulation. The research in this post-doctoral position will focus on the generation and analysis of next-generation sequencing data (RRBS-Seq and RNA-seq) and the elucidation of underlying regulatory networks. Candidates are also expected to interact with faculty, staff, and students within a larger group of researchers at UND in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The candidate will perform laboratory-based research in this area including:
1. The design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory experiments.
2. Assist in grant and manuscript preparation.
3. Help train graduate and undergraduate students.
4. Participate in all additional facets of the research laboratory.

This is a full-time, benefitted position and will be offered for an initial period of 1-2 years, with a possibility of extension to 3 additional years subject to performance and the desire on both parties to continue. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, computer science, genomics, molecular biology, neuroscience, cell biology or a related discipline, and have demonstrated excellence in at least one of the above areas as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
