Job Description:
PostDoc in “Computational Biology” of Inflammatory Skin Diseases”
Inflammatory skin diseases are characterized by diverse immune reactions of the skin. Initial false diagnoses are today only detected during the course of treatment by the absence of response to disease-specific therapy. We have recently developed a molecular signature (Quaranta M et al. Sci Transl Med. 2014) to reliably diagnose atopic eczema and psoriasis. In the proposed Postdoc project, a thorough phenotyping and molecular profiling of a large skin disease cohort will be mined and integrated. Data was and will be generated in the dermatology clinic. We aim to establish and validate a skin disease map in order to refine disease diagnoses. Subsequent disease signatures need to be developed enabling personalized dermatology. Longitudinal disease topologies will be analyzed with respect to the identified skin disease map. Linking molecular and phenotypical data will then allow us to identify putative drug targets.

- Unbiased patient subgroup identification of detailed phenotypic parameter
- omics data processing and analysis from next generation technologies
- Integration of phenotypic and molecular –omics data
- Development of a skin disease map
- Biomarker development for therapeutic application of inflammatory skin disease Job requirements:
- Phd in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics or related fields
- Strong medical interest
- Experience with next generation data analysis
- Profound knowledge of statistical or machine learning methods
- Demonstrated experience in working interdisciplinary with collaboration partners
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
