Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Bioinformatician – Proteomics/Systems Pharmacology to join the Chemical Biology group to work on the identification of novel drug targets and the elucidation of the mechanism of action of drugs and tool compounds for the treatment of cancer with special emphasis on multiple myeloma. The position is funded by the Structural Genomics Consortium Company, Myeloma UK (MUK) and the Freed Foundation. The research programme has a strong emphasis on target identification using AP-MS proteomic approaches in combination with other multi-omics data.

Candidates should have extensive experience in bioinformatic data processing and analysis with practical experience in handling, interpreting and visualising proteomic and genetic data. In addition you will develop new interactive tools for data analysis and instruct and assist laboratory members in analysing their data and designing experiments. Candidates are also expected to take leadership in more specialised publications on the development of novel bioinformatic tools and contribute to funding applications.

You will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic and skilled scientist with a strong academic track record. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as well as an ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with potential to take on supervisory responsibilities. Demonstrable experience in the development of (e.g. web-based) interactive tools enabling bench scientists to mine, analyse, interpret, and visualize the data is essential.

You will have a PhD in systems biology/pharmacology or related area with focus on bioinformatics and proteomic data analysis. A basic degree in cell and tumour biology, pharmacology or analytical chemistry/mass spectrometry with experience in disease network analysis is welcome.

This full-time position is fixed-term available until 31 December 2019 in the first instance.
