Job Description:
A postdoctoral position is available to participate in an ongoing project to examine disease pathways in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The successful candidate is expected to take a lead role in bioinformatic analyses of RNA-seq data, and in statistical analyses.

Position Qualifications:

Applicant must have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or a related field, with experience in analyses of RNA-seq data. * Experience with statistical models is required.* The applicant must be proficient in statistical and scripting programming language such as R.

Postdoctoral Position Summary:

Conducts laboratory and/or clinical research under the close supervision of a Principal Investigator. Postdoctoral Fellows are generally appointed for a limited term, usually one to three years. In certain circumstances, a Postdoctoral Fellow may be promoted to the rank of Senior Postdoctoral Fellow. The total time spent in the ranks of Postdoctoral Fellow and Senior Postdoctoral Fellow will not exceed six years.

Background & Accomplishments:

Has an outstanding understanding of scientific background in one or more research areas. Has ability to understand, adapt, and with guidance, set up experimental protocols and analytical procedures. Possesses scientific writing skills as evidenced by peer-review publication record.

Interpersonal SKills & Management SKills/Goals:

Promotes a constructive and positive atmosphere within the work area by cooperating with and assisting investigators and other staff. Is an effective problem solver through active problem identification and collaboration with investigators and other staff. Interacts with others in a courteous, professional manner with appropriate confidentiality. Uses appropriate organizational skills in setting priorities for work and meeting deadlines. Is able to resolve conflicts in a pro-active manner that demonstrates a high level of understanding of and interest in conflict resolution. Contributes to Institutional affairs as appropriate.

Postdoctoral Fellow with 0-3 years experience; Ph.D. or MD. Learns new and/or advanced research skills and techniques. Participates in design of experiments and interpretation of results.Originates publication and presentation of data from laboratory. May seek and obtain external grant funding

Senior Postdoctoral Fellow with 3+ years experience; Ph.D. or MD. In addition to Postdoctoral Fellow responsibilities, may supervise staff membe(s). May obtain grant or fellowship funding. Shows potential for independent research through continued publications and presentations
