Job Description:
Reporting to the assistant director of clinical molecular laboratory, the position will develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines (NGS data alignment, variant calling, variant annotation), robust systems for managing and reporting NGS results (variant interpreting, data mining, clinical report generating). This position will also provide support to develop, improve and manage software user interfaces, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and ensure compliance with all clinical regulatory agencies.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate and support all stages of the transition of new tests from development to tests release.
  • Design and validate next-generation sequencing sample preparation methods, both by utilizing standard molecular biology processes and creating novel solution.
  • Utilize automation and robotics to standardize the workflow.
  • Assist the assistant director and genetic counselor in executing, conducting data analysis and reporting results.
  • Interpret data, troubleshoots and recommends corrective actions for routine problems.
  • Write standard operating procedures and technical reports.
  • Communicate results in written and oral presentations.
  • Train others on new skills and procedures.
  • Manage scientific collaborations, contracted research and/or clinical trials.
  • Work to maintain CLIA/CAP compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Applicants must possess a PhD degree in bioinformatics or related field.
  • Must have at least 2 years of documented hands-on experience with NGS assay development, validation, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Must have strong bioinformatics skills, documented programing experience.
  • Must have extensive working experience with Linus/Unix environment, computing server administration, shell and Python/ or Perl scripting, API, R, C/C++, SQL, JavaScript.
  • Must be familiar with commonly-used databases and bioinformatics tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills; strong work ethic, strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, self-motivated, team worker, and current U.S. work authorization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced team environment. 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior publication record for clinical assay development/validation, and experience in a CLIA/CAP accredited US clinical laboratory is preferred.
