Job Description:
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Laboratory of Dr. Sundari Chetty, in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University. The overarching goal of the lab is to improve the prospects of autologous cell replacement therapy and in vitro disease modeling for regenerative medicine with applications for neuroscience. Current projects focus on using human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) lines from individuals with psychiatric disorders (e.g. autism and schizophrenia) to model and understand the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms. In particular, iPSC lines will be differentiated into the neuronal and glial lineages to investigate changes at the cellular, functional, and mechanistic levels using a broad range of techniques from cell cycle analysis to RNA sequencing. Knowledge gained from these studies will be applied to identify drug targets for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. The position will also involve collaborations with other labs in the Stanford Stem Cell Institute working on related questions.

For more information about Dr. Chetty's lab, please visit the lab's website at http://med.stanford.edu/chetty.html

The position is available now. A competitive salary and benefits package will be provided.

Minimum degree and field of knowledge:

PhD or MD in neurobiology, stem cell biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or related field required with a strong publication record in these areas. An ideal candidate would have extensive experience working with stem cells and neurons as well as expertise in the use of fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, cellular imaging/microscopy, and molecular biology (RT-PCR, cloning, immunoprecipitation, western blotting). Expertise in epigenetics and high throughput sequencing (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, DNA methylation, RNA-seq) as well as electrophysiology would be very valuable.

This opening is an ideal opportunity for recent MD or PhD graduates interested in a career in medicine and/or biomedical research. Interested candidates should submit a CV, a brief statement of current and future career goals and contact information for three references by email to schettylab@gmail.com….
