Job Description:
The 2-3 year position of a Postdoctoral research scientist is open immediately to join our work on designing computational methods for analysis and interpretation of genomic regions associated with complex phenotypes, such as SNPs, CNVs, TFBSs etc., in context of human genome annotation (epigenomic) data, such as provided by the ENCODE and the like consortia. We are looking for a junior scholar who will develop methods for automated processing of genome annotation data. The candidate will further develop methods of exploratory data analysis, such as identifying statistically significant relationships among genomic regions of interest, epigenomic data, and a phenotype.
Minimal requirements:
- Ph.D in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or in Physics/Biology;
- Hacker-level programming experience in at least one widely used language (e.g., Python, C, Java, R)
- Must demonstrate strong personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in next-generation sequencing data analysis;
- Experience with high performance computing;
- Familiarity with “big data” databases;
- Knowledge of genome biology;
- Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
