Job Description:
The Espinosa lab is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician/Computational Biologist to analyze high-throughput sequencing and functional genomics data (RNA-seq, shRNA, ChIP-seq, etc).
The Bioinformatician will work closely with biologists in the lab to analyze new and existing biological datasets in various research projects. Duties will include:
• Development of new bioinformatics pipelines
• Development and assessment of new bioinformatics tools
• Work closely with members of research team; communicate methods to biological scientists
• Regularly present results and methods at laboratory meetings
• Instruct and assist researchers on the use of basic bioinformatics tools, when needed
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts

Minimum Qualifications
• B.S. degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degree or significant experience preferred.
• 3+ years experience in a laboratory setting.
Desired Qualifications
• MS or PhD in Bioinformatics, Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or related field. Title will be changed to Research Associate if candidate possesses PhD.
• Experience with multiple Next Generation Sequencing platforms, including Ion Torrent and Illumina.
• Ability to build, support, and execute pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput data
• Experience with and understanding of cell biology
• Experience with RNA-seq and short-hairpin datasets
