Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Molecular Pathology

The Gynaecological Oncology Research Group within the Centre for Cancer Research aims to better target treatment to individual patients through understanding the molecular drivers of treatment response in ovarian cancer. With researchers forming an integral part of the multidisciplinary team caring for women with gynaecological cancers at Westmead Hospital, research conducted by the group is well-positioned to be quickly translated into new tests and treatments that are of direct benefit to patients.

The group is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the field of Molecular Pathology to provide molecular and genomic expertise to a new Translational Research Program. The position will be part of a collaborative team working to integrate genomic pathology into the multidisciplinary team based model of care for ovarian cancer.

This is a full-time position on a 3 year contract.

Major Responsibilities:

Developing clinical quality accredited molecular assays.Mutation variant reporting and analysis of other somatic alterations that contribute to ovarian cancer pathogenesis and response to treatment, including gene copy number and gene expression variations, within a team environment.Integration of analysis methods and interpretation of data from a range of molecular assay platforms.Implementation of bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of molecular data.Working with collaborators within the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research and Pathology West to implement new molecular assays into routine clinical practice within the health care system.Contribute to the research activities of the Gynaecological Oncology Research Group as directed by the Head.Collect and coordinate data requirements for research projects, grant applications and publications as directed by the Head of the Gynaecological Oncology Research Group.
