Job Description:
The Computational Biology group at UCT is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics with experience in Population or Statistical Genetics to conduct research on GWAS and Population studies, as well as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbiome Bioinformatics to conduct research on microbiome and related projects. The successful candidate will have experience in Bioinformatics, with relevant research interests. He/she will join the Computational Biology Group (www.cbio.uct.ac.za), which forms the centre of bioinformatics activities at the university.
The successful candidate must be in possession of a Ph. D or equivalent degree in a relevant area (Computer Science, Mathematics, Molecular Genetics, Biostatistics or Computational Biology/Bioinformatics), and some exposure to bioinformatics/computational biology. For one position experience in the area of population genetics and GWAS analysis is required, while for the other, experience with NGS and/or metagenomics data will be advantageous.
