Job Description:
The Duke Comparative Oncology Group, in conjunction with the Department of Orthopaedics at Duke University Medical Center, is seeking a post-doctoral scholar to work at the nexus of comparative evolutionary biology and cancer. The post-doctoral scholar will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, veterinarians, and PhD researchers who use a cross-species comparative approach to understanding and treating cancer.

The post-doctoral scholar will work with the Directors to develop an independent project within the diverse research portfolio of the Comparative Oncology Group. The post-doctoral scholar will be primarily responsible for conceptualizing the project, collecting the data, analyzing and interpreting, and presenting the findings in the form of oral/poster presentations and publications. As part of a research group, the scholar will also be required to mentor undergraduate, graduate, and medical students.

Expertise and qualifications:

The post-doctoral scholar will engage in cutting-edge research at Duke University, a top-flight research institution. The scholar should have expertise in molecular biology or a related field and a working knowledge of bioinformatics and computational biology techniques. Experience with rodent models of cancer is preferred, but not required.

Requirements:

Successful applicants will have an anticipated PhD thesis defense date for 2018 or have recently completed a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree with training in cancer biology, molecular biology, computational biology/bioinformatics, or genetics.
