Job Description:
The University of South Florida is seeking to hire up to 2 postdoctoral scholars to work as part of a team in a human population genomics research program developing statistical and computational methods for analyzing large-scale human genome sequence data focusing on inferring demographic histories. A high level of competence is needed in computational skills (such as mastering programing languages such as Java or Python). A graduate level training in population genetics or bioinformatics or statistical genetics or Java programming experience is preferred. A successful post doc will have considerable latitude to develop and carry forward new, independent projects. The principal duties and obligations of the appointment are to conduct computational human genomics research, prepare research results for annual reports to granting agencies, and publish high quality articles in peer-reviewed research journals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Competitive candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Sciences and a strong background in bioinformatics, population genetics or molecular evolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have experience working in a population genomics/molecular evolution research laboratory, working on method/tool development or with extensive algorithm development and Java programming experience.
