Job Description:
A 2-year postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. David Mark Welch, Director of the Josephine Bay Paul Center for Comparative Molecular Biology and Evolution, in the areas of the biology of aging, genomics, and the development of transgenic techniques in non-model organisms. Research in the Mark Welch lab focuses on comparative genomic and transcriptomic approaches to the biology aging, DNA repair, and genome evolution using bdelloid and monogonont rotifers as model systems. Opportunities for postdoctoral research projects include determining the causes of differences in healthspan and lifespan between closely related rotifer species using a variety of genetic and biochemical approaches.

Basic Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field. A record of scientific rigor, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in bioinformatics, working with rotifers, or with transgenic techniques using models such as nematodes is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires extensive microscopy.
