Job Description:
The ideal Data Scientist for this role should be able to take on projects from start to finish. Gather the data (structured or unstructured) in any shape and size using any programming languages necessary, process the data, analyze them graphically and statistically, develop and execute machine learning and other artificial intelligence approaches, draw interesting and unique insights into the business, package the information into meaningful and effective presentations, and finally be able to present to senior management (SVP or Higher)

The Expertise We’re Looking For:

-Master’s Degree in a quantitative or computational field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Economics, Business Analytics, Operations Research, or Applied Mathematics, with at least 4 years of relevant work experience, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Operations Research, or related quantitative/computational fields with at least 2 years of relevant industry or research experience.

-SQL and related data extraction skills for extracting and processing big and small data.

-Knowledge of statistical and data science programming skills, including SAS, R, and Python.

-Knowledge of most of the following quantitative fields: Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Statistical Analysis & Modeling, Causal Inference & Program Evaluation, Text Mining & Natural Language Processing, Econometric Time Series Analysis, Behavioral Economics, Design of Experiment, Mathematical Programming, Multi-Objective Optimization, Decision Theory, Stochastic Optimization, Heuristic Algorithms, Reinforcement Learning, Monte Carlo Simulation, Speech Analytics, Bayesian Statistics, and Network Science.

-Exploratory data analysis, data visualization, and statistical graphics.

-Experience in Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce or related Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) technologies.

-Knowledge of business fields, social sciences, or health sciences a plus, such as Marketing, Finance, Economics, Survey Research, Accounting, Psychology, Management, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Health Economics, and Health Policy & Management .

The functions of this role include applications of data science and advanced analytics for employee benefits such as health, insurance, retirement savings, and other products. The successful candidate will work primarily with SVPs/VPs/Directors/Analysts of product, marketing, finance, and technology teams across the firm. The assignments will include gathering internal and external data from multiple sources, data processing, exploratory data analysis, predictive analytics, unstructured data mining, prescriptive analytics, interpretation of findings, and presentation.
